In tech news that impacts more than just people in the technology field; Ring has issued a recall for 350,000 2nd generation Ring Doorbells over safety concerns.
A notice was released by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission that Ring has received 23 reports of doorbells igniting and causing minor property damage and 8 reports of minor burns.
Ring is citing incorrect installation as the reason for the recall, but says there is no risk if it is installed correctly. They are asking impacted users to not return the devices, but have asked users to download the revised installation guide and contact customer support if they have installed the device incorrectly.
The doorbells affected are 2nd generation video doorbells sold this year between June and October with the model number 5UM5E5. You can enter your device’s serial number over on Ring’s website to see if your doorbell is affected.
