Alert: Crowdstrike Impacts

While we do not use Crowdstrike and it will not directly impact your business systems; we wanted to alert you to the ongoing issues as it may affect businesses and services that you work with directly.

This is still emerging, but as of 10:30 PM Pacific Time – many global systems were impacted by a bad update that was pushed out by Crowdstrike. Crowdstrike is a security vendor. Below is a synopsis from The New York Times.

“What happened? A series of outages rippled across the globe as information displays, login systems and broadcasting networks went dark. The problem affecting the majority of services was caused by a flawed update by CrowdStrike, an American cybersecurity firm, whose systems are designed to protect users from hackers.”

What does this mean?:

What this means is that there are multiple industries affected at this time. Some of those affected are -Airlines, Banks, websites, etc.

User impact:

Users may experience issues with websites, travel, banking, telecom, etc

This is ongoing and is still an active situation. This is impacting companies globally – so we please ask for grace for the IT individuals who are working to mitigate an IT outage that they did not make but are feverishly working to fix. We have apprised our team of the situation, but we ask that you share with your team so that they are aware of what happened as we expect the call volume to be elevated today which may cause extended support call times.

Current status:

A temporary fix has been identified, but it requires manual intervention on affected systems. This may extend the time it takes to remediate the issue.

This issue is impacting many sectors across businesses globally. As the situation unfolds, more information will be available.
